Development of breaking sequence

We created a sequence in breakdance, then the contemporary dancer ‘contemporised’ it, before we took the changed version into an upperbody sequence and then combined different elements from each section into a developed version. We used contemporary dance, breakdance, capoeira, parcour and contact improvisation as our main styles of dance. We took turns in using different styles as starting points for the exploration and then manipulated and developed the material. The use of dynamics became very important as we compared the various styles and realised that movement dynamics are an essential fusion tool for our way of working.
